Volunteers

Volunteering

Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Gresham Japanese Garden. The Japanese Garden, Ebetsu Plaza, the Ambleside Annex is the “gem of the city” because of the dedication of our volunteers and leadership committee.

The Friends of the Gresham Japanese Garden has MANY ways to capitalize on your expertise or expand your hobby. We categorize the organization with the methodology:

Hardscapes – Coordinator, John Harrold

  • Bridge, benches, water feature, turtle, zen garden, irrigation, etc.

Softscapes – Coordinator, Jim Buck

  • All plants, trees, shrubs
  • Pruning

Ambleside Annex – Deb Peters

This is the small section east of the path to the Springwater Trail with picnic tables. Future development will feature a butterfly garden and a community message board.

Events – Coordinators, Sue Hughes / Mary Ann Buck

Shadehouse / Greenhouse – Coordinator, Deb Peters

Security – Coordinator, John Harrold

The garden is a public place with no admission. Individuals and groups are present most every day. Guidelines for visitors are posted but sometimes visitors need to be reminded to stay on the path, no bikes and adhere to the posted requests.
