The Gresham Japanese Garden has three spaces available for rent; Tsuru Island, Ebetsu Plaza, and Kyoudou Center, or a combination of them.

Tsuru Island is the Japanese garden located in the center of Main City Park, Tsuru Island is surrounded by Johnson Creek as an elevated island and is a beautiful, serene Japanese garden—perfect for a small event. Tsuru Island showcases several Japanese structures; the moon bridge is the entrance, a covered azumaya (gazebo), blue-stone hand carved pathways, and a fountain, all beautiful backdrops for your event. Maximum number of occupancy is 50 people.

Tsuru Island is also a popular location for photo shoots for all occasions. If your party is under 8, then we don’t require a reservation and the setting is free for you to enjoy. Although, we would appreciate a donation. GJG is solely run by volunteers. We have no paid staff.

Tsuru Island is only 3/4 of an acre in size, so large groups prohibit the space to be enjoyed by others. Any group over 10 people must reserve the Japanese garden for a photo shoot. See below.

Download GJG’s Release, Waiver of Liability and Indemnity Agreement. This agreement will need to be signed and returned before your event.
Kyoudou Center

Tsuru Island, Ebetsu Plaza, and the Kyoudou Center

  • A detailed clean up of the spaces before your event. Renter is responsible for cleaning after the event.
  • Closing all the spaces from the public.
  • Closing the paver pathway from through traffic at Ebetsu Plaza
  • Meeting with Event Coordinator.
  • Standby volunteer to monitor closed spaces.
  • Kyoudou Center: See amenities under ‘Kyoudou Center”
  • Ebetsu Plaza: See amenities under ‘Kyoudou Center + Ebetsu Plaza”
  • Maximum 50-person occupancy on Tsuru Island.
  • Maximum 80-person occupancy at Kyoudou Center in combination with the rental of Ebetsu Plaza.
  • Maximum time: 4 hours included in cost ($75/hr for each extra hour)
  • Refundable deposit is $100.
Housekeeping
  • Only painters tape used on azumaya.
  • No glitter, confetti, birdseed, rice, etc. in any of the spaces
  • No open-flame candles without votives.
  • All garbage, recyclables and food must be removed from all areas after event.
  • Must stay on pathways.
  • The Friends of Gresham Japanese Garden is not liable for injuries occurring on premises.
  • Alcohol is not permitted on location without purchasing event insurance.
Cost for all three spaces is $450.00. Go to Step 1 for inquiry.

Neither the City of Gresham nor the Gresham Japanese Garden is responsible for any injuries that occur on the premises. One-day $2,000,000 event insurance is mandatory to serve alcohol. Average cost is $100.  https://www.theeventhelper.com/ bis one option, but you can choose whomever you find.

Kyoudou Center

Amenities
  • 1,250 square feet, air-conditioned and heated
  • Maximum capacity is 50 people
  • $250 for 3 hours. Each additional hour is $50. *See rate below for Non profits and non-filings below.
  • Refundable cleaning deposit of $50.
  • 10 rectangular tables (6’x3’) with white table cloths for rent.
  • 10 bistro tables (3’) with black table cloths for rent.
  • Two buffet tables (18″x72″) with black table cloths
  • Black cloth napkins for rent.
  • 42 wood chairs.
  • Kitchen sink, refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven (no oven).
  • Full access to kitchen: Corelle dinnerware, glassware, utensils, serving trays, etc.
  • 80-cup coffee maker, single-serve coffee maker, electric hot water kettle, two drink dispensers, hot liquid carafe, punch bowl.
  • AV equipment: Wifi, projector with HDMI hook up and projector screen.
  • Sound equipment
  • ADA accessible entrance ramp and restroom

  • Neither the City of Gresham nor the Gresham Japanese Garden is responsible for any injuries that occur on the premises. A liability waiver form is required to sign and return.
  • Event insurance is required if alcohol is to be served. Average cost is $100. We use https://www.theeventhelper.com/, but you can choose whomever you find.
Housekeeping
  • All garbage, recyclables and food must be taken with you.
  • Wood chairs need to stay inside the Kyoudou Center. Request the black folding chairs for patio use.
  • Returnable cans and bottles may be left for donation to the Garden.
  • All kitchen items must be loaded in dishwasher.
  • Wipe tables and charis, and sweep floor before leaving.
Cost: $250.00 for 3 hours 
Non-Profits and Non-Filing Rentals
*We are a community center. For non-profits and non-filings renters we offer $50 for 3 hours. Email rentals@greshamjapanesegarden.com to view the list of amenities at this rate.

Add Ebetsu Plaza to Kyoudou Center Rental

Housekeeping

  • Take all garbage, recyclables and food with you at the end of the event.

Tsuru Island Only

Details
  • Three-quarter acre Japanese garden
  • A detailed clean up of Tsuru Island.
  • Maximum capacity is 30 people.
  • $250 for 3 hours. Each additional hour $50.
  • Refundable damage deposit is $50.
  • Property will be closed to the public and a Private Event sign is displayed.
  • A volunteer stays on premise during event.

If you would like to serve alcohol, you need an OLCC license, or purchase $2,000.000 event insurance.
Average cost is $100. Eventhelper.com is one option. GJG will need a copy of the policy.

Amenities
  • 20 black metal foldable chairs.
  • 10 bistro tables (32” diameter, 43” tall) with black table cloths for rent.
  • 3 foldable plastic tables (5ft x 2ft)
  • 1 foldable plastic table (8ft x 2ft)
  • Usage of the azumaya (gazebo)
  • One electrical outlet in the azumaya
  • Igloo drink container filled with water. No cups provided.
  • Meeting with Event Coordinator to help arrange your event

Photos Session on Tsuru Island

  • A detailed clean up of Tsuru Island including sweeping the stone pathway
  • Closing off Tsuru Island from the public entering so you won’t be disrupted
  • Maximum time: 2 hours included in cost ($50/hr for each extra hour)
Charge for photo session is $90.00 for 2 hours
